What is the difference between a mailing address and a property address?
A contact's mailing address is where they receive their mail. Their property address identifies the property connected to them.
These addresses may be the same, but not always. For example, an investor or absentee owner may own a property in one location while receiving mail at another.
Keeping the two addresses separate helps you:
- Send mail to the address where the contact can receive it.
- Keep the correct property connected to that person.
- Organize or filter contacts according to property location.
- Work with homeowners who own rental or investment properties.
This gives you more accurate information than storing only one general address for every contact.
Purchased lists include both addresses. See When I purchase a list do I get the address of the home or of the owner?
