Workflows

How do Wait and Wait Until Date work?

Both steps control when contacts move forward, but they schedule the next action in different ways.

Wait

A Wait step pauses each contact for a fixed amount of time. You can set the duration in days, weeks, or months.

For example, adding a 30-day wait between postcards creates a monthly mailing schedule.

Wait Until Date

A Wait Until Date step holds a contact until a particular date. This can be the same calendar date for everyone or a date taken from each contact's record.

For example, a birthday Workflow can use the birthday stored for each contact. Every person waits for their own birthday rather than receiving the postcard on one shared date.

This is also useful for closing anniversaries and other mailings connected to personal dates. To store those dates, see How do I add custom fields to my contacts?
